Vancouver's Mountain View High School beats 64 teams in nation's largest regional Science Bowl
Questions can be amazingly difficult, yet high school students seek out the Science Bowl in numbers -- the western Oregon and Washington regional competition, sponsored by Bonneville Power Administration, is the largest in the country. Sixty-four teams faced off Saturday, 16 made it to the final rounds, but only one advanced to Washington, D.C., to compete in nationals.

Dirk Nico Michael Looijenga survived four years in prison camps during WWII - Obituaries today
He married Vera Soekarman in 1954 and together they immigrated to Portland in 1957. He worked in several engineering firms before establishing VLMK. He loved his work and continued to work from home for many years after retirement.
