Napavine School District to host two free summer classes for Lewis County high school students

The Napavine School District will host two free New Market Skills Center classes for Lewis County high school students this summer.

The two classes — HTML5 Browser Game Creation with Phaser and Contemporary Art: TikTok Trends — each run July 1 to July 25.

HTML5 Browser Game Creation with Phaser will teach students HTML5, Java and Phaser while they create their own browser games.

“Whether you’re a beginner or a coding pro, join us for a fun-filled summer of creativity and skill-building,” organizers said in a news release.

Contemporary Art: TikTok Trends will give students the space and supplies to “explore contemporary art practices independently and in a group setting in our classroom studio,” according to a news release. “Have you ever wanted to try spray paint to paint a galaxy, or hydro dipping? Well, join us this summer and let’s give it a try!”

Incoming ninth graders, incoming 12th graders and all grades in between, are eligible to attend.

Applications are due by June 5, with a minimum of 12 students needed in each class for the class to proceed.

Applications can be found online at https://www.napavineschools.org/ and should be turned in to David Rutherford at drutherford@napavineschools.org or in person at the Napavine School District Office, located at 413 East Park St.in Napavine.
